Summary

This was a pretty good one and is just focusing on Gon and Killuas they train, meet a guy named Wing and his student Zushi, Killua fights him and they advance to the 200th floor and for further challenges, meet Hisoka there, learn the secrets of Ten, Zetsu, Ren and Hatsu and whatever Nen is (mind force) from wing as he teaches them, Gon fights Gido (beyblade/top kinda opponent) and its one of the coolest battles here while later Killua goes to watch Kastro vs Hisoka and its epic, the whole fight This was a pretty good one and is just focusing on Gon and Killuas they train, meet a guy named Wing and his student Zushi, Killua fights him and they advance to the 200th floor and for further challenges, meet Hisoka there, learn the secrets of Ten, Zetsu, Ren and Hatsu and whatever Nen is (mind force) from wing as he teaches them, Gon fights Gido (beyblade/top kinda opponent) and its one of the coolest battles here while later Killua goes to watch Kastro vs Hisoka and its epic, the whole fight secrets and the explanation of their technique is too good! Really enjoyed this volume as it raises the stakes in the battle tower and explains new martial arts/spiritual techniques and offers a great insight to this world! Also Wing is amazing and the art is so fun! 。。。more

Getting to the “Heaven arena arc” for the second time made me enjoy it a lot more than the first time in the anime。 And the pacing it’s way better too

He was a novice and practically knew almost nothing about Nen。 He only learned the technique of Ten, which only served as a defense, not an offense。 Though he has a natural unaware knowledge of Zetsu, it was not an offense technique either and can only left him unprotected。 But damn, his resolve! He was ready to actually fight without a proper training and willing to literally risk his life just to try the very basic technique he just learned。 And he was enjoying it。 Oh, that attitude of him! It was still amusing to see his recklessness at this point, but it could be his absolute downfall, I swear! Gon, my baby!Hisoka and Kastro's fight, that was an incredible one! We get to see how Hisoka fight in the arena。 Though it was still not revealed here the true nature of Hisoka's ability, it was really an entertaining and impressive fight! I loved the look on Hisoka's face while fighting。 He was so composed and even looked insulting even when he was basically beaten by Kastro and got his hands mutilated。 He looked like he can't be bothered by it! At the end, he managed to turn the table in a very unexpected way。 He was a true monster in a battle。 I liked him a lot, though he is such a creep sometimes。 。。。more

So glad to finally be able to continue reading this series! The Hisoka vs Kastro fight at the end of this volume was awesome。

Read 9/3/20That hisoka fight was insane。。。。 and the nen stuff? Sick。 I thought the fight tower was gonna be like dragon ball and just loads of insane physical stuff but (while that is still there) it’s nowhere near the stuff that tiki gets up to, and the magic is kind of explained and it’s actually really cool!!

Hisoka is truly such a great character like the way he is crafted and slowly shown is amazing。 I love when we have volumes focus on him and his character。 Plus we get to see baby killua and Gon aka not the best they are in the ant arc。

Hisoka pervertido, Gon es sólo un niño。 Termina bien este volumen con una pelea digna, creo yo。

Gon really wants to pay Hisoka back by punching him in the face and forcing him to take his badge back。 (Hisoka said he wouldn’t until Gon could punch him as hard as he could, after expressing his appreciation of Gon’s successful hunt for him。) He doesn’t feel like he’s truly earned his Hunter’s license until he does that。 Hisoka, however, isn’t just a much stronger fighter。 He’s initiated into the way of Nen, a way of controlling energy neither Gon nor Killua know anything about。 Both boys are Gon really wants to pay Hisoka back by punching him in the face and forcing him to take his badge back。 (Hisoka said he wouldn’t until Gon could punch him as hard as he could, after expressing his appreciation of Gon’s successful hunt for him。) He doesn’t feel like he’s truly earned his Hunter’s license until he does that。 Hisoka, however, isn’t just a much stronger fighter。 He’s initiated into the way of Nen, a way of controlling energy neither Gon nor Killua know anything about。 Both boys are going to learn when they go to the Heavens’ arena。 It was just going to be a way to make some quick cash and polish up their strength。 An encounter with another boy called Zushi and his mentor, Wing, ends up changing Gon and Killua’s lives。 Reluctant at first, Wing realizes Gon and Killua are headed to the 200th floor when many dangerous Nen users await them。 (Killua has already encountered it via his sinster old brother, Illumi。) Those two will be defenseless if they’re not given some training, drastic training。 Fortunately Gon and Killua are remarkably quick studies。 They’ll need to be。 For among those Nen users on the 200th floor, Hisoka is waiting for them…This particular volume explained much of the premise for extraordinary powers and abilities in Hunter x Hunter world via a fast-moving plot which developed Gon’s goal to get stronger, strong enough to face Hisoka as an equal, strong enough to catch up with his dad。 Killua’s wish to stay at Gon’s side was also fleshed out, even as he explores ways to not achieve certain goals which were forced upon him。 Hisoka’s own sinister, yet compelling desire to wait for Gon and Killua to ripen into worthy prey by showing a mentorly, yet creepy protectivness towards the two boys, particularly Gon, kept my eyes glued to the panels every time Hisoka showed up。 We meet the characters of Zushi and Wing, an extremely serious boy Gon and Killua’s age dedicated to martial and Nen excellence, along with Wing, a mild-mannered, kindly, yet devious man who hides his formidable powers behind glasses and a smile。 (I’ll admit, I’ve got a soft spot for characters like Wing。) Both of these characters become involved with a lot of story and character-driven exposition, which advance both forward。 For all of these qualities, I give this book four stars。 。。。more

People love the Nen system, but I don't really see it so far。 Maybe some interesting stuff related to will power will come up, later。 But right now it feels an over explained kind of magic。 And I didn't need all this exposition to buy into the characters' powers。 Hisoka can throw razor sharp card because that's just what he does。 I don't need to know this whole complicated system about imbuing them with willpower that he cut off from leaking and then meditated to build up and focused his will on People love the Nen system, but I don't really see it so far。 Maybe some interesting stuff related to will power will come up, later。 But right now it feels an over explained kind of magic。 And I didn't need all this exposition to buy into the characters' powers。 Hisoka can throw razor sharp card because that's just what he does。 I don't need to know this whole complicated system about imbuing them with willpower that he cut off from leaking and then meditated to build up and focused his will on the card or whatever。 I'm still kind of unclear on how it all works exactly, since in one chapter the system is explained, then a chapter or two later the same character is basically like "nah, I lied here's how it really works"。 I'll give this stuff the benefit of the doubt and assume it gets better, but for now I'm not invested in Nen。 So I'm kind of iffy on this book, and then it hits me out of nowhere with Killua vs Kastro。 Holy shit that battle。 Those chapters took the level of violence and gross imagery to a level I hadn't seen in shonen before。 It was short, but had some incredible moments。 Hisoka offering up his arm。 Kastro's fake out。 Hisoka's magic trick。 That battle had me popping off like an action scene hasn't in years。 Also on the positive side, Gon and Killua's little interactions are super charming。 They truly feel like kids, moreso than any other Shonen protagonist I've seen。 And seeing them joke around and be goofy kids is a pleasure。 。。。more

This battle tower thing is pretty neat, and now that Gon and Kil have gotten to the 200th floor, I wonder how far they'll be going from here - especially considering Hisoka is a potential opponent。 And speaking of Hisoka。。。 boy was that a weird (and brutal) fight he had with Kastro o。OInterested to see how the next volume will continue with this, seeing as this one ended with such a defeat。。。Notes below in spoiler tags, for reference:(view spoiler)[Chapter 45。(view spoiler)[I don’t know how much This battle tower thing is pretty neat, and now that Gon and Kil have gotten to the 200th floor, I wonder how far they'll be going from here - especially considering Hisoka is a potential opponent。 And speaking of Hisoka。。。 boy was that a weird (and brutal) fight he had with Kastro o。OInterested to see how the next volume will continue with this, seeing as this one ended with such a defeat。。。Notes below in spoiler tags, for reference:(view spoiler)[Chapter 45。(view spoiler)[I don’t know how much the money in the Hunter x Hunter world is worth 8’D What’s 10 million?

Keep it up。 Using a tournament to effectively explain the combat system in detail is quite something。 I hope the other aspects of hunting are still explored, but I am enjoying it thus far!

Hunter x Hunter is still a charming series and I'm determined to continue reading it, but I am SO ready to be done with this Heaven's Arena arc。 It's one part pure exposition, one part laughably silly fights between characters I couldn't care less about — at this point, what do we even know about Hisoka? Why should I care about this smarmy clown? He pulls all of his tricks almost literally out of his ass, and I definitely need more to work with in order to get invested into whatever kind of a vi Hunter x Hunter is still a charming series and I'm determined to continue reading it, but I am SO ready to be done with this Heaven's Arena arc。 It's one part pure exposition, one part laughably silly fights between characters I couldn't care less about — at this point, what do we even know about Hisoka?
